One of the many great joys of BNI Guildford is the diversity of businesses represented by our members, of course we are delighted by our accountant, thrilled by our marketing consultant and beguiled by our printer but then…there’s Joshua.
We think we are unique as the only group in the UK to have an archery company as a member!
Joshua Lloyd owns Discover Archery Ltd and he is on a mission to bring the ancient pastime to the masses with a whole range of fun packed activities suitable for people of all ages and abilities. From archery tag using foam tipped arrows and hoverball, archery golf and a range of mini-games to ‘real’ archery with ‘proper’ arrows, Joshua is trained to teach the lot.
Organisers of school open days, charities, fetes and medieval tournaments, church events, festivals and sports days call regularly on Joshua and his team to provide safe, clean fun. Whatever the event, indoors or out, Discover Archery can add something different to proceedings…even stag and hen parties are catered for!
But, as a business organisation it was the corporate days that Joshua chose to focus us on for his ten minute presentation.
In a relatively short time, Discover Archery has become established as a firm favourite with businesses of all sizes for team building and fun-days, indeed, some of the best known companies and organisations in the area regularly use Joshua and his team…after all, ‘how often do you get the chance to shoot the boss and get away with it?’
One particular client stands out for Joshua, The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery lent a certain ruthless efficiency and competitive edge to their day of Archery Tag, with one officer commenting ‘all who attended loved it and it helped relieve the tension towards our fellow colleagues’
A heartfelt, if slightly chilling testimonial.
Joshua brought with him a quiver or two of foam-tipped arrows and an inflatable hoverball target, a distraction which found favour with everyone in the group. There were one or two surprise attempts, with a few of the action-men members failing to impress, but it was the petite Jack Newman of Boo Design that stole the show with a dead-eyed demonstration of technique and skills.
There was time for just one question and it came from John Roach, fitness trainer.
‘What ages is the archery suitable for and how far do you travel for an event?’
Joshua explained that because of the amount of styles Discovery Archery can offer, they can adapt for any age group. The inflatables, hoverball and archery tag are all suitable for any age, whereas the traditional archery is more suitable for organised groups such as schools.
As for distance, Joshua confirmed that he is happy to quote for business regardless of location…have bows, will travel.
